River Rhine (near Emmerich, Germany)

Broad, silverly, watercarrying artery
shortly before, like a piece of rope,
being split up in a triangle of irregular branches,
all at last shedding their water into the sea
Here, river at large
soon, a delta of braided streams
Here one name, one river
(old man?)
there Waal, Lek, IJssel and more
(oh yes, the Kromme Rijn also belongs
to the delta... and once was a majestuous stream itself
deposing the sediments, that feed
the trees around Utrecht.
Come to think of it... Holland is Switzerland,
somehow)
